The Chamber Breaks Ground on its New Location in the 9400 S. Santa Monica City Building

Beverly Hills, CA—On January 11, 2011, a groundbreaking ceremony took place for a new City building. When completed, the three-story building will house the Chamber on the second floor, the Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau and a City Store and other retail on the ground floor, along with leasable office space on the third floor. The Chamber sold it’s longtime building at 239 S. Beverly to the City of Beverly Hills in late 2010 and purchased the second floor in the City building located at 9400 South Santa Monica Boulevard, at the corner of Canon Drive and South Santa Monica Boulevard.

Jeffrey Kalban & Associates, a prominent local architect, was engaged to design the project. The building is a steel framed structure with a stone and glass curtain wall finished with an accessible roof deck terrace. Energy efficiency, including renewable energy by the use of solar photovoltaic panels, are sustainable features incorporated in the building design to comply with the Beverly Hills Green Building Ordinance.

The Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce has begun to reshape itself to become a better, efficient organization to serve the business community and residents of Beverly Hills. The purchase into the new City building is only the beginning of the changes and opportunities taking place at the Chamber. “We look forward to building long-term financial stability and expanding the day-to-day capabilities of the Chamber while also providing future space flexibility, said the Chamber’s Board Chair, Todd Johnson. The Chamber continues to strive to be the voice of the business community and looks forward to serving its membership in 2011.
